You can now play against real players in Warhosts: matchmaking within ±500 points, an Elo rating per faction and for the Random mode, a leaderboard and a global chat that stays in the menu and in battle.
Player versus player
Press Online battle in the menu, choose a faction (or Random) and Find opponent. Both players place real troops at the same time. Pause is disabled in online battles: time runs the same for both. The battle is computed identically for both players and on the server, and the server decides the result. If the connection drops the game returns you to the battle as long as 45 seconds have not passed.
The ranking
Every player has four ratings: one each for the Kingdom, the Wilds and the Pale Court and one more for Random (the server assigns the faction). Start at 1000, the Elo formula, matchmaking within ±500. The leaderboard opens from the menu. Details: how the ranking works.
The global chat
The chat is a semi-transparent window over the game: it can be moved and collapsed, it stays in battle and does not cover the unit cards. Players with an account can write, anyone can read. Profanity is masked, links and spam are forbidden.
Registration and security
Registration by email: an email, a nickname (3–16 characters) and a password of 8+ characters. Passwords are stored only as irreversible hashes. To recover access use the “Forgot password?” link. The data policy: privacy.
How to prepare
Read the online battle guide and the counters: against people the economy and the ability to adapt matter most.
